Plot: Run away from this movie.
Eric: I discovered that I don't like any martial arts movies made before Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Kelly: Not sure why Eric thought a samurai version of King Lear was a good idea. I'm surprised but pleased that he took out the disc after only ten minutes.

Ran is sort of a tough introduction to Kurosawa - maybe start with Seven Samurai and be prepared for the story to take some time to slowly unwind.
If you're in the mood for something along the lines of Crouching Tiger, I recommend Hero with Jet Li.
Yah! Hero is one of my favorite movies.
